Website Design
A Website That Brings You Work, Not Just Visits
Traffic isn't the goal. We do website design for small business owners who need the site to produce enquiries, and build it so Google and the AI assistants people now search with can read it.
The problem
When the site gets visits but no enquiries
Plenty of small business sites get found. The problem starts after that. A visitor lands and can't tell at a glance what you do, whether you work in their area, or why you rather than the next result. The page is slow on a phone, the things that matter are buried, and the only way to act on it is a contact form at the bottom. The analytics look healthy. The work doesn't arrive. A site that gets visits and produces nothing costs more than no site at all, because it wastes every visitor who was already interested enough to land on it.
Process
How we approach website design for small business
-
We start from what you want the site to do
Which enquiries are worth having, which ones waste your time, and what a visitor has to see before they'll get in touch.
-
New build or upgrade, decided first
A site from scratch and an improvement to the one you have are different pieces of work. We look at what you already have before assuming you need to start again.
-
Built to be read, by people and by machines
Fast on a phone, clear about what you do, and structured so Google and the AI assistants your customers now search with can find and recommend you.
-
Live, then adjusted on what actually happens
Once it's up we go through how it's performing with you and change what's getting in the way.
Use cases
What we build
-
A new site from scratch
For a business starting out, or replacing one that can't be salvaged. Domain, hosting and any booking or payment setup are part of the conversation.
-
An upgrade to the site you have
Often the cheaper answer. No new domain or hosting to buy, just access to what's already there.
-
Pages that say what you actually do
What you offer, where you work and who you're for, visible immediately rather than three clicks in.
-
Fast on a phone
Most of your visitors are on one, and a slow page loses them before it finishes loading.
-
Readable to AI assistants
Structured so Google and the assistants people now search with can find you and recommend you.
-
An obvious way to get in touch
On every page, not a form at the bottom of one.
Cost
What affects the cost
Every project is priced after the discovery call. What moves it: whether it's a new site or an upgrade to one you have, how many pages it needs, whether you want booking or payments set up, how much of the content and imagery already exists, how many languages, and which domain and hosting arrangement you choose.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Often the one you have. An upgrade and a build from scratch are genuinely different pieces of work: an upgrade needs no new domain or hosting, only access to what's already there, and it's usually the cheaper answer. We look at what you've got before suggesting you replace it.
For an upgrade, access to the site you already have. For a new build, a domain and hosting, which you can either arrange yourself or have us set up. Beyond that, whatever you already have in the way of content, photos and a logo, and a clear idea of the enquiries you want more of.
Either you or us - you choose at the start. If you buy and hold the domain and hosting yourself, we charge for the build only. If we set them up on our side, you pay us one monthly amount covering hosting, domain and ongoing maintenance instead, and if that arrangement ever ends we transfer the domain and hosting across to you. The site is yours either way. We go through both options on the discovery call so you know what you're choosing before anything gets built. An upgrade to a site you already have needs neither, since you are paying for them already.
Bugs and anything we got wrong are fixed at no charge. If it is broken, or it is not what we agreed, that is on us. Changes you want afterwards are separate work: a new theme, a different look, new colours, extra features. We tell you which of the two a request is before we do it, so nothing arrives as a surprise.
Yes. It's one of the things we settle before a new build starts, because it shapes what gets built. What you need depends on how you take work today, which is part of what the discovery call is for.
In practice it means building the site so machines can read it as easily as people can. Your customers increasingly search through AI assistants rather than a list of blue links, and those assistants can only recommend you if they can work out what you do, where you do it and who for. It's the same structure that helps Google, done with both in mind.
